Remulla should remain in his government post

JUSTICE Secretary Jesus Crispin 'Boying' Remulla has no reason to resign, and President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. seems right to rebuff any such suggestion. Some people have urged the secretary to step down from his government post after his son was arrested recently in an anti-illegal drug operation. But so far, Mr. Remulla has demonstrated his integrity amid difficult times for him and his family.

Evidently, the resignation calls are anchored on a conflict-of-interest argument. They cite the possibility of the secretary's son getting off lightly or receiving favorable treatment because of his family connections. And even if the secretary does not interfere, prosecutors and other Justice officials might offer special treatment to the accused, simply because he is a Remulla.
