Sayyaf 'Spy' kills soldier, wounds 2 others

ZAMBOANGA CITY: An Abu Sayyaf terrorist allegedly working for the military was killed after he shot dead a government soldier and wounded two civilians at an army post in Sumisip town in Basilan. Nur Ismael escaped initially after the shooting but was later gunned down by pursuing soldiers. The Western Mindanao Command and the 1st Infantry Division have not released the reports of the incident which occurred this week. It was unclear whether Ismael was a double spy or not, or what triggered him to go on a rampage. The military is using former Abu Sayyaf fighters or those who surrendered to the government to convince others to return to the fold of the law. Other terrorists end up as so-called 'military assets' and help security forces track down and even fight alongside soldiers against the militant group.
