We badly need a middle ground

ON THE CONTRARY

THE real problem of this country actually is not with its leaders but with us, its people, or at least those whose political worldviews are so consumed by extreme emotions of blind loyalty bordering on idolatry on one hand and utter dislike, even to the point of hatred, on the other.

And it is a fallacy to simply blame this as an affliction of the ordinary people. This is also seen even among those who should know better because they banner a host of honorifics before their names, or of degree signifiers appended to them. Some of them are even tasked to educate the young, which is alarming because they have the potential to reproduce their kind of idolatry and hatred.
