Ormoc residents OK merger, renaming of villages

Thousands of residents in Ormoc City in Leyte resoundingly voted to ratify the merger of 28 villages (barangay) into three and rename another in a plebiscite held Saturday.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said 53 percent of the more than 10,000 residents of the 29 villages cast their votes.
