TO the credit of the security sector, for all the obstacles heaped upon it by communist terrorist fronts in Congress, it continues to carry out its task with flying colors, so speak. It is inspiring to learn that military operations against the communist terrorists have been sustained in Quezon, like this encounter reported by Lt. Col. Hector A. Estolas (INF), PA chief, DPAO, 2ID. Through a tip-off from civilians, a planned attack by a 25-strong group of the NPA was foiled by soldiers of the 1st Infantry Battalion and 22nd Division Reconnaissance Company in a 25-minute firefight in Sitio Lagmak, Barangay Pagsangahan, Nakar, Quezon last September 20. Killed in the encounter were three members of the communist terrorist group believed to be the KLG Narciso and Execom of the Southern Tagalog regional party committee's subregional military area 4A led by its secretary Janice Javier alias Yayo. Recovered from the CTGs were two M16 rifles, an R4 rifle, and one M203 grenade launcher. No casualties were reported on the government side.
