Cabañero fires 33, leads UST to season-opening win

Nic Cabañero fired a career-best 33 points to lead the University of Santo Tomas (UST) to a 69-60 opening win over Adamson University (AdU) on Saturday in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 85 men's basketball at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Cabañero, who shot in an efficient 13-of-18 clip, also came through in the clutch, scoring four points in the last 1:10 including the two free throws that sealed the win for the Growling Tigers with 12 seconds to go.
