'Luis' escalates into severe tropical storm but exits PH

TROPICAL storm 'Luis' has escalated into a severe tropical storm but exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the state-run weather agency said on Thursday.

Weather specialist Benison Estareja said the tropical cyclone will even reach typhoon category but will be over the sea east of Ryukyu Islands outside PAR by that time.
