MOL to build Berthing Aid System for its vessels

MITSUI O.S.K. Lines (MOL), one of the largest shipping companies in the world, is looking into the installation of the Berthing Aid System for its ships.

The Berthing Aid System measures the exact distance and angle between the hull and the pier, based on information obtained from Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) and satellite compasses, and displays the results on multiple screens.

MOL has announced that the trial use of the Berthing Aid System will be aboard the large-scale car ferry Sunflower Gold, which plies the Kobe-Oita route in Japan. PHOTO FROM MOL
