THE Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF) will honor seven teachers from different parts of the country as Model Filipino Teachers. This year, two elementary school teachers will be honored — Warren Norberte of Lungsod Butuan SPED Center and Gladys Jovellano of Bagacay Elementary School. Two teachers also won from secondary schools, Alma Bautista of Santos Ventura National High School and Christina Macascas of the Normal University of the Philippines. Three are from college, Lita Bacalla and Rowena Largo who both came from Cebu Normal Univeristy, and Alvin Rom De Mesa from Leyte Normal University.

The Ulirang Guro sa Filipino is an annual award given by KWF to teachers who have contributed to the dissemination and promotion of the Filipino language and/or Philippine indigenous languages ??and culture in the field of teaching in their community through research, seminars, training and other similar works.
