THE Supreme Court has ruled that the Sandiganbayan was right when it convicted 2019 former Maguindanao governor Datu Sajid Islam Ampatuan of graft, falsification of public documents, and malversation of public funds involving P35.7 million.
In a 92-page decision, the high court's First Division upheld the ruling of the anti-graft court that found Ampatuan guilty of falsification of public documents and sentenced him to imprisonment ranging from six months to eight years in each of the 63 cases, or 504 years of maximum jail term.
