THE Philippines can smoothly transition to net zero by 2050 through renewable-based power systems, backed by grid balancing engines and battery energy storage systems (BESS), Finnish technology group Wärtsilä said.
During a media roundtable on Wednesday, David Kayanan, Wärtsilä energy financial and market analyst, reported the findings of the company's power system modelling study in the Philippines. The island of Luzon is the main focus of the study.
