The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSEi) opened in the red on Wednesday as it slipped by 1.84 percent due to the US August Consumer Price Index registering at 8.3 percent, which was lower than July's (8.5 percent).

The PSEi started around the 6,500 level. The selloff went as high as around 2 percent before settling at the market recess.
