INDUSTRY stakeholders have thrown their support behind the concerted efforts of the Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) by sharing their expertise and collective inputs in addressing the findings of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) independent evaluation on the country's compliance with the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) Convention.
In a series of consultations, the stakeholders collaborated with Marina officials in coming out with proposals and recommendations on steps to correct the 15 non-conformities (NCs) identified in the independent evaluation, or IE, as well as numerous observations in the country's implementation of the STCW Convention. Failure to rectify these may impact the Philippine status on the IMO White List.
