(UPDATE) ALEX Eala made history as she became the first Filipino tennis player to reach the final of a Grand Slam singles event.
The 17-year-old Eala did so by defeating Canadian Victoria Mboko, 6-1, 7-6(5), in the semifinals of the US Open Girls Singles at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York City early Saturday (Philippine time).
