Mapua University asserted its mastery over San Beda University, 66-55, to gain a victory on opening day of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 98 men's basketball tournament Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Leaning on a balanced attack, the Cardinals, who defeated the Red Lions in last season's semifinals, dominated the contest and led by as many as 19 points, 65-46, following an Arvin Gamboa and-one play with 4:22 left in the game.
