"Let us remember: One book, one pen, one child, and one teacher can change the world." – Malala Yousafzi

TODAY, September 8, is International Literacy Day, celebrated worldwide under the theme "Transforming Literacy Learning Spaces." (https://events.unesco.org/event?id=20364467 20&lang=1033) This responds to the inclusiveness theme of Agenda 2030: "To transform the World." In this case, to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 on Quality Education — that "no child is left behind." This theme gave birth to the Alternative Learning System (ALS) — the Philippine parallel learning system that provides opportunities for out-of-school youth and adult (OSYA) learners as well. The goal is to develop basic and functional literacy skills, and to access equivalent pathways to complete basic education.
