FARMERS in the lowland areas of the province of Nueva Vizcaya have found at least eight next generations (NextGen) of inbred rice varieties to produce higher yields — as shown by their agronomic characteristics — than the traditional varieties.
Reynaldo Andres of the Nueva Vizcaya Experiment Station (NVES), under the auspices of the Department of Agriculture in Region 2 (Cagayan Valley), noted that this was proven in at least two farm demonstration activities held in Barangay Wakal in Solano town and Barangay Casat in Bayombong town.
