ENERGY Secretary Raphael Lotilla made a commitment that the Department of Energy (DoE) will aggressively pursue initiatives that will reduce the country's dependence on imported fuel, in line with the government's thrust to increase the country's indigenous and renewable energy resources in bringing down the price of electricity to consumers.
During the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations budget hearing on Thursday, Lotilla highlighted the need for the government to lessen the country's vulnerability brought about by disruptions in the supply or price of imported oil. To do this, he said the DoE will accelerate efforts on tapping indigenous energy resources and expanding investments in the energy sector.
