KUALA LUMPUR: Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) reported on Tuesday that its net income surged in the second quarter of 2022 on higher oil and gasoline prices resulting from a widening supply gap and dwindling capacity.

In a statement, the Malaysian state-owned energy company said its profit after tax more than doubled to 23 billion ringgit ($5.14 billion) from 9.6 billion ringgit ($2.14 billion) a year ago.
