THE Surallah Municipal Police Station (MPS) neutralized an alleged serial robbery suspect in the province of South Cotabato on August 18. Surallah police chief LtCol. Jomero Sentinta identified the suspect as an alias 'Isyang.' Sentinta said that Surallah MPS received a tip from concerned citizens that a robbery incident was happening in a certain market in the city. Surallah MPS responded immediately to the tip and as authorities arrived at an area in Villavicencio subdivision, Libertad village, Isyang fired gunshots at the police, resulting in a gunfight. The gunfight lasted for minutes, resulting in the death of the suspect. Authorities recovered the firearm used, ammunition and two sachets of suspected shabu. Sentinta said that Surallah MPS is now in pursuit of the accomplices who escaped during the gunfight. He added the police found that Isyang employed minors as lookouts and informants to determine the victim of his robbing spree. He also noted the suspect was involved in a series of other crimes such as theft, carnapping and illegal drugs. Surallah PNP is now investigating whether the Isyang was conducting illegal activities in other provinces other than South Cotabato.
