BEFORE 2013, my idea of insurance and its value/purpose was very limited. The first insurance plan that I got was in 2009 and during that time, it was more like a "favor" to a friend who was persistent in asking me to buy the plan. In fact, I bought that plan thinking that I was investing for the future. Heck, I did not even understand what plan I had for myself. Later on I found out it was more for financial protection (it was an ordinary life plan — death benefit plus savings).

Fast forward to 2022, I probably have seven to eight insurance plans which include the ones for my kids and my wife. Of course being a licensed financial advisor helps me understand why insurance is important. But I'll take off my advisor hat and wear my husband and parent hat to share why I strongly believe in insurance.
