BAGUIO CITY: Three individuals are facing charges for violating Republic Act (RA) 8485 as amended by RA 10631, also known as the "Animal Welfare Act of 1998," after responding officers from the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) Kennon Road Police Station caught them allegedly slaughtering a dog at Camp 8 here.

The incident was reported to the station by lawyer Amadeo Degay of the Furvent Animal Rescue and Advocacy around 10:25 a.m. on Thursday, August 11. This led to the arrest of the suspects, including the dog's owner, and the seizure of 10 kilograms of dog meat, a blow torch, an LPG tank, a bolo, and a knife.
