Consumer group Power for People Coalition (P4P) on Wednesday lauded the Department of Energy's (DoE) declaration to steer away from power resource importation and shift to local power sources.

Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla in a press briefing on Tuesday expressed that the government will "develop measures to reduce the Philippines' dependence on power resources from other countries." He said that at present, 56.8 percent of the country's total energy supply is imported compared to just 43 percent domestic or indigenous sources.
