INSTEAD of sending the core of the UAAP Season 84 women's volleyball champ National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs to the AVC Cup for Women slated from August 21 to 29, the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) is set to field the eventual best local team of the Premiere Volleyball League (PVL) Invitational Conference to the tourney.

The federation made the decision following the Lady Bulldogs' management decision on Sunday to not allow its 12 players composing the national team to play in the PVL Invitational Conference round robin semis in place of Kobe Shinwa Women's University, reportedly fearing the risk of injury.
