No border controls for monkeypox – DoH

THE Department of Health (DoH) stressed that monkeypox is different from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) and thus, does not necessitate any possible border closures unlike in the early stages of the pandemic.

In a briefing on Friday, Health Officer in Charge Maria Rosario Vergeire said monkeypox is being transmitted through close, skin-to-skin contact with an infected individual, as opposed to Covid-19, which can be transmitted via aerosolized droplets.
