Guanzon courts 'contempt' over pending poll case

(UPDATE) THE Supreme Court has ordered retired Commission on Elections commissioner Maria Rowena Amelia Guanzon to explain within 10 days why she should not be held in contempt for speaking in public about her pending case in violation of the sub judice rule.

In a two-page order to show cause, the Supreme Court said that it has received reports that Guanzon — a nominee of the Komunidad ng Pamilya, Pasyente at Persons with Disabilities (P3PWD) party-list, which won a congressional seat in the May 9 elections — has been publicly commenting on her pending election case.
