BACOLOD CITY: Three more suspected New People's Army (NPA) rebels on Tuesday died in renewed armed fighting as the Philippine Army (PA) pressed its campaign against the insurgents in central Negros.
Brig. Gen. Inocencio Pasaporte, 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, said the 10-minute gunbattle ensued between about 10 NPA rebels and 62nd Infantry Battalion (62IB) soldiers, who responded to reports of civilians on the presence of armed men in Sitio Natuling, Barangay Budlasan, Canlaon City, Negros Oriental.
