THE Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) inched up by 13.76 points, or by 0.22 percent, on Wednesday to settle at 6,236.76 on bargain hunting from investors.

Claire Alviar, research associate at Philstocks Financial Inc., noted that the PSEi continued moving sideways during the intraday, mostly in the red, following the negative sentiment from the United States markets and due to a wider budget deficit in June.
