THE Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) have been instructed by Finance Secretary Benjamin Diokno to collect taxes efficiently and fairly.

"[I] told them that I consider revenue collectors as essential workers. Revenues are essential for achieving the goals embodied in our medium-term fiscal framework. Hence, they should collect taxes efficiently and fairly," Diokno told reporters when asked what his instructions were to the bureau chiefs he recently met.
