EXPANSIONARY fiscal policies are needed if the Philippines is to reduce its debt burden, Moody's Analytics and ANZ Research said.

While total debt-to-gross domestic product (GDP) ratios in the Asia Pacific have remained well above pre-pandemic levels, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines had difficulty controlling total debt last year as a result of more stringent Covid-19-related restrictions, Moody's Analytics said in a report released on Thursday.
