China vows measures if Pelosi visits Taiwan

BEIJING: China will take 'resolute and strong measures' should United States Speaker Nancy Pelosi proceed with reported plans to visit Taiwan, the East Asian country's Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

The head of the American House of Representatives, who is second in line to the US presidency, is due to visit the self-governing island China claims as its own territory in August, according to a report in the Financial Times newspaper.
