THE United States' Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) will continue to support the efforts of the Philippines' National Coast Watch System (NCWS) to become a regional "maritime security leader."
The US Embassy in Manila on Monday said the DTRA concluded on July 15 its one-week review of the facilities, equipment and training programs it provided to enhance the Philippines' maritime domain awareness. Since 2012, the DTRA has provided over $64 million to the NCWS for the acquisition of advanced equipment and the training of personnel, enabling it to become the "premier maritime security entity in the Philippines," the embassy said.
