MAGSINGAL, Ilocos Sur: A 53-year-old man died in the hospital after being hit by a sports utility vehicle (SUV) in the early morning of July 14, 2022 along the national highway here. The victim was identified as Iluminado Duque Ulangco Sr., a farmer and a resident of Barangay Bacar, Magsingal town. The driver of the SUV was identified as Edward Simpliciano Balisacan, 42 and a resident of Barangay 6, San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte. Police probers said the victim was about to cross the highway when the speeding vehicle struck him down. The incident was recorded in video footage. Ulangco was rushed by rescuers to the Magsingal District Hospital where he was declared dead by attending doctors. He suffered multiple injuries. The SUV driver is now under police custody.
