CSC backs rightsizing but vows 'careful review' of proposal

THE Civil Service Commission (CSC) expressed its support on Friday to a proposal to rightsize the government bureaucracy so long as it will promote efficiency in public sector management and create an agile and future-ready civil service.

The CSC issued the statement after the DBM said it will decide which of the 187 government agencies and government-owned and controlled businesses (GOCCs) may be simplified by merger, restructuring, or abolition.
