LEGAZPI CITY: Bicol has four active volcanoes that are closely being monitored by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) here.
Paul Alanis, Phivolcs-Bicol resident volcanologist, said during the recent National Museum in Bicol Volcano Talk: "Bakit maraming bulkan sa Bikol (Why are there a lot of volcanos in Bicol)?" that there are over 300 volcanoes in the country, including four active volcanoes in the Bicol Region — Mount Mayon in Albay, Mount Bulusan in Sorsogon, and Mount Isarog and Mount Asog, both in Camarines Sur.
