In its 41-page ruling, the court's Fourth Division denied the appeal of Ressa and former researcher and writer Reynaldo Santos Jr. and sentenced them to a maximum imprisonment of six years for violating Section 4(c)4 of Republic Act 10175, otherwise known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. Associate Justice Roberto Quiroz penned the decision.
