PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) Officer in Charge LtGen. Vicente Danao Jr. on Thursday ordered the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) to intensify the crackdown against illegal sirens, commonly known as "wang wang" and blinkers.

Presidential Decree 96 signed during the administration of the late President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. mandates that the use of these devices is exclusive to the motor vehicles designated for official use by the Armed Forces of the Philippines, National Bureau of Investigation, Land Transportation Office, PNP, Bureau of Fire Protection and hospital ambulances.
