THE number of unemployed Filipinos slightly increased in May this year despite the increased labor force as the country continues to reopen its economy amid the pandemic, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported on Thursday.

In a briefing, National Statistician Claire Dennis Mapa revealed that preliminary Labor Force Survey data showed the country's unemployment rate in May was estimated to be 6.0 percent, a 0.3 percentage point month-on-month increase from 5.7 percent in April.
