Bong Go pushes creation of dept of disaster resilience

SEN. Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go refiled in the 19th Congress his bill that aims to establish a Department of Disaster Resilience (DDR), a specialized agency that will help create disaster-resilient and safe communities.

"Before a typhoon hits, there is already an agency that will coordinate with the local government units, preposition the goods and evacuate people to safer places. After the typhoon leaves, it will immediately act for the restoration of normalcy. That is the goal of the Department of Disaster Resilience," Go said.
