Apayao gunfight kills one soldier

CAMP MELCHOR DELA CRUZ, Gamu, Isabela: A 24-year-old member of the Philippine Army was killed in a firefight between New People's Army rebels and government troops in the mountains of Katablangan, Conner, Apayao on Thursday, June 30, the military said on Friday.

Killed was Pvt. Kobee Wackisan, 24, a member of the 52nd Division Reconnaissance Company (52DRC) and native of Tanudan, Kalinga, said Capt. Rigor Pamittan, 5th Infantry Division (5ID) spokesman.
