POLICE authorities in Banisilan town, North Cotabato, are preparing to file charges against a 20-year-old suspect for the rape-slay of a 13-year-old girl in Putin Bato village of the municipality. Banisilan police chief Maj. Elmier Parreño identified the suspect as Renier Usman, a resident of the nearby town of Wao, Lanao del Sur. According to police reports, the minor attended a birthday party last Friday night and was walking home along with her brother and one other relative. Sometime later, the suspect passed by the victim and her companions on board a motorcycle and invited the minor to alight from the vehicle. The girl did not come home that night, prompting her family to look for her but failed to find her. The victim's lifeless body was found on the morning of Saturday in a vacant lot in Putin Bato. According to the Philippine National Police, the victim, who sustained a major head injury, was possibly raped before being killed. The suspect's motorcycle was found abandoned a few meters away from where the victim's body was found. When the suspect was arrested last Sunday, police found that the sole of the perpetrator's feet was stained with blood that they said could be from the victim.
