President-elect Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos’ wife and lawyer Lisa Araneta Marcos (center) surprised The Manila Times Chairman Emeritus Dr. Dante Arevalo Ang (leftmost) at his 80th birthday celebration Monday night. The Times (TMT) and its sister companies — TMT TV, TMT College-Subic and TMT Laboratories — organized the party for the Ang patriarch at Hotel Conrad Manila, attended only by immediate family members, relatives, employees and a handful of the celebrant’s childhood friends from his seminary days in Las Piñas. The incoming first lady, an old friend of the Angs, said she could not let the milestone birthday pass without personally greeting the Times’ big boss. Mrs. Marcos enjoyed catching up with publishing’s newest octogenarian and members of his family, as well as chatting with the celebrant’s ‘convent brothers’ (from second left) Eduardo Sagun Asban, Jose Reyes and Rosauro Leonardo.
