Every year in June, the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBTQ) community honors the Stonewall Uprising of 1968 by celebrating Pride Month, which promotes dignity, equal rights and self-affirmation. This monumental annual event is a way of increasing society's awareness regarding the issues they face. Although negative attitudes and injustice remain, much progress has been achieved in more inclusive communities, as members and allies continue this long-standing tradition worldwide.
