EVEN without any approved budget and staffing pattern yet, incoming Migrant Workers secretary Susan "Toots" Ople on Friday said her department will "hit the ground running" as soon as her term begins on July 1.

Ople, a long-time overseas Filipino workers' rights activist, will only be the second Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) secretary since the agency was created through a law signed by President Rodrigo Duterte in December 2021.
