TWO lawmakers from the House of Representatives on Friday offered strategies to help mitigate the effects of soaring prices of petroleum products as oil companies increased the cost of diesel by P3.10 per liter and gasoline by P0.80 per liter on Tuesday for the third consecutive week.

House Deputy Speaker and Davao City Third District Rep. Isidro Ungab are lobbying for the reallocation of a portion of the budget to finance his proposed transportation cash subsidy, or "Transpo Ayuda," which would go to drivers of public utility vehicles and other groups who have been severely impacted by the rise in oil prices, such as the farmers and fishermen.
