Village captain survives slay try

A BARANGAY (village) chairman escaped an assassination attempt in an ambush by still unidentified gunmen in Ampatuan town, Maguindanao, a police official said last Tuesday.

Lt. Reynaldo Samson, Ampatuan town police chief, said barangay chief Zoraida Mamaluba of Kamasi village had just alighted from her car last Monday afternoon when her vehicle was fired upon by two motorcycle-riding men.
