Vice governor, sugar planters back Marcos as DA chief

BACOLOD CITY: Negros Occidental Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer, along with a sugar planters group, supports the decision of President-elect Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. to temporarily lead the Department of Agriculture (DA).

Ferrer, who headed Marcos' campaign in Negros during the May 9, 2022 elections, said in a statement that the president-elect's decision to take the helm of the DA shows he 'is serious in working on his campaign promise that agriculture will be a priority agenda in his administration, which will greatly benefit Negros Occidental in terms of food security and in their efforts to wipe out the insurgency in the province.'
