IN 2004, Cardinal Angelo Sodano penned a letter to Pope John Paul 2nd presenting the Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church, which contains timeless Church teachings on human dignity, common good and solidarity. Through the years, various Catholics have imbibed these guidelines.
Some vivified these through honest work and social initiatives. In the Philippines, nongovernment organizations (NGO) arose to serve the weak and the needy.
