CAMP MELCHOR DELA CRUZ, Gamu, Isabela: At least 81 trainees completed the six-month Candidate Soldier Course and cross-trained with Infantry Orientation Course at the 5th Division Training School here on June 13. Capt. Rigor Pamittan, the 5th Infantry Division spokesman, said the Kawal na Sinanay ng Isip, Galing, Lakas At Buhay Ang Nilaan (Kasig-Laban) Class 707-2021 was composed of 71 males and 10 females wherein six were board passers, 31 were college graduates, 12 were college level, 11 were senior high school graduates, 34 were high school graduates, two were graduates of Alternative Learning System, and one finished vocational. They have successfully undergone 'rigorous training that tests their physical and mental stability while transforming them from carefree civilians to fine-grown military men' under the supervision of the officers and personnel of 5DTS as their training models. Among the members of Kasig-Laban, a Cagayana emerged as No. 1 in the academic and non-academic requirements with a general average of 90.52 percent. Pvt. Claudine Pasion, 20, a native of Solana, Cagayan, ranked first, followed by Pvt. Joel Tabanganay Jr., a native of Tabuk City, Kalinga, with a general average of 92.26 percent. Tabanganay was also the recipient of the Physical Fitness Proficiency Award. Landing on top 3 is Pvt. Raymund Natividad of Cabagan, Isabela with an average of 90.04 percent. Meanwhile, the new privates are from the provinces of Isabela with 34; Cagayan, 14; Kalinga, 78; Pangasinan, 6; Ifugao, 2; and Aurora, Batangas, Ilocos Norte, Nueva Vizcaya, Nueva Ecija, Mountain Province, Quirino and Southern Leyte, each with one.
