DAVAO CITY: Six members of the New People's Army (NPA) were arrested by the Philippine Army's 10th Infantry Division (10ID) at Purok Kauswagan, Mapawa, Maragusan, Davao de Oro on Sunday, June 12. Capt. Mark Anthony Tito, 10ID spokesman, withheld the full names of the arrested rebels but identified them only as Bea, Joy, Totoy, Bords, Bobong and Jerry. According to Tito, the rebels are allegedly members of the NPA's Sub-Regional Guerilla Unit (SRGU) of Sub-Regional Committee 2 (SRC2). Maj. Gen. Nolasco Mempin, 10ID commander, commended the 701st Infantry Brigade together with the 66th Infantry Battalion, 1st Davao de Oro Police Mobile Force Company and other intelligence units who were involved in this accomplishment. 'We acknowledge and thank the cooperation of our former rebels who wholeheartedly surrendered to the government forces and helped us in locating the remaining communist NPA terrorists who still refuse to abandon the armed struggle,' Mempin said.
